Hungarian born, London based gallerist Carl Kostyál first brought attention to the gallery by discovering British artist Helen Marten, following which, he presented solo exhibitions of Alex Israel, Austin Lee, Alex da Corte, Dora Maurer, Petra Cortright, Matias Faldbakken, Claire Fontaine and Peter Coffin. A leading gallery in discovering and championing many of today's most prominent contemporary artists, Carl Kostyál is located in London, Milan, Italy and Stockholm, Sweden but with its main outpost on Savile Row in London.

"I've been focusing on discovering and showing emerging artists for a couple of decades. The interest in emerging art is cyclical. I've made friends by focusing on supporting artists early on and helping to reignite interest in many artists. Bringing new friends to the party created the dialogue and exchange–that is the reason we're in this game."

- Carl Kostyál, from adviser Adam Green's interview with Carl published in Patron Magazine 2019

benjamin spiers

Benjamin Spiers (B. Cornwall, England, 1972) Studied at Goldsmiths University of London with Peter Doig, who encouraged him in the view that painting could be 'complex and mysterious'. With an uncompromising mastery of Traditional techniques, Spiers delves into the History of Art, sampling both Abstraction and Figuration. Employing the 'Subject' as a vehicle, Spiers' demonstrates his mastery of Painting, both formally and conceptually, through rich textures, light effects, and the manipulation of space and depth of field. Spiers' Subjects are influenced and culled from such diverse sources as the "knotty convolutions of the ancient Bonsai, special effects of 'Terminator 2', Mondrian, Gothic Cathedrals, and Robert Crumb".

Spier's is a recipient of the 'John Moores Painting Prize', Walker Art Gallery (Liverpool Biennial), and was a Finalist for the 6th 'Manifest International Painting Award'. His Work is included in prominent Private and Public Collections throughout both Europe and the US. Most recently, Spier's presented his critically acclaimed Solo Exhibition 'Hook and Crook' at Carl Kostyal, Savile Row, London. Spiers lives and works in London, UK.
